The majority of families and nannies we speak with are unsure how much pay is typical. After years of experience in the industry, we have come up with the guidelines below. For a detailed outline as to what each position’s typical responsibilities are, please see the “What is a Professional Nanny” article in our Blog. Our policy is to remain impartial on nanny salaries ensuring you are able to hire a nanny within your budget. You are the nanny's employer and will pay your nanny directly. Our nannies range from about $300/week and go up depending on experience, education, age and other factors. Most of our nannies start in the $300-$400/week range. We have nannies of all experience levels and can provide you plenty of candidates within your salary range.
First, let's define the various nanny experience levels:
- Minimum – This is an entry level nanny. This person fulfills the minimum requirements for the job. This nanny must have three years experience with children in some capacity, but has not been a nanny before. Nannies in this category generally require training.
- Level A – This nanny has the experience and knowledge necessary to master most of the duties related to the job in an independent manner. Nannies whose salary falls between the Minimum level and Level A are in the development phase because they are still learning their job. Usually nannies in this range have had significant childcare experience and may have completed a one-year contract in a previous nanny position.
- Level B – Nannies at this level are highly experienced. Their level of productivity exceeds the job requirements. Nannies whose salary falls between Level A and Level B are in the maturity phase because they are mastering their job. Nannies in this range may have post-secondary education and degrees, special training in the field of education or child development and/or have three to five years of nanny experience and a background of fulfilling contracts with families.
- Maximum – The nanny is continuously educating themselves and has achieved success in their professional nanny careers through education and more than five years nanny experience. This nanny will have belong to prfessional nanny organizations and be able to proove yearly continuing education in the field of child care. This nanny will also typically have an additional specialty such as being fluent in a second language, advanced art or music training, etc. Nannies whose salary falls between Level B and Maximum level are in the mastery phase because they have demonstrated superior skills and a strong commitment to the childcare field. Nannies in this category work very independently and are usually over 25 years of age.

*YCN rarely gets nanny applicants whose salary requirements are less than $300 weekly. Rates can vary based on family location, number of children, scheduled hours, special needs, benefits and more. Some nannies and families may have higher or lower requirements. These rates are simply a guideline as to what’s standard in the industry. YCN does not set nanny salaries.
**We do not place foreign au pairs at YourChildsNanny.com. These fees are based on the industry averages for au pair care as published on the top three au pair placement websites.
